Well, I would imagine they would ask why the Metoac gave Minuit such a good deal for the island. Remember, the cheyenne fought the battle, the sioux got the credit, but the Crow got the land.

A great summation, I doubt if any scholar could have made such a definitive statement of truth better than what you have posted! PS That is a really good statement of reality. The best I've ever heard!!!

"the cheyenne fought the battle, the sioux got the credit, but the Crow got the land", is a common phrase, I thought it was apropos. Thanks to google, my spelling will improve.

Maybe "the cheyenne fought the battle, the sioux got the credit, but the Crow got the land" isn't so common. I googled it and couldn't find it. Well, I heard it alot when growng up, and I didn't want to leave the impression it was my invention.

I have heard that one before as well. Google doesn't know everything.

Wonderful story. ;D Can you imagine what the Crows, waiting for the bus, would have said when they arrived at N.Y.C. "My God, this is the wild East?"

Touche! ;D Especially when you figure in Washington D.C.!

It would be interesting what the reply would be if the Crows would ask "Take me to your leader", given the current situation in D.C.

Personally, I would refer the Crow delegates to the nearest "McDonald's" as Ronald would, at least, add a little levity to an otherwise deplorable situation!

Greetings to all, I was happy to learn of this forum from Twomoons. I am a fan of Lieutenant Henry Moore Harrington who commanded Co C, 7th U.S. Cavalry at the LBH battle. He has been and continues to be pretty much ignored by historians and forum browsers alike. I will introduce you to him later. Best regards and thanks for inviting me to your exceptional forum.
