Just got that as a present. Sat down with my MOTHER to watch it. Geeez. Is it worth a watch, without my Mother of course?

I'm having trouble staying on line here, keep getting a banner and can't get back. Anywho, watched Deadwood, 1st season, (without my 89 yr old mother), it's pretty good. Happy new year to all here.

Hey crazy, I saw the show yesterday. It was really good! In my opinion, JW's characterization was a tad more likable while Bridges's portrayal was little in character for man like Gogburn. I wish the "Duke" had the opportunity to have seen it. I think he would have been proud.

Why did Rooster have to ride Little Blackie so hard and then shoot the horse ? I would of carried Little Blackie and Matte on my shoulders to save them both...... take that tough guy Rooster ! And oh why did Matte in her later years have to diss James and Younger(they were just good ole boys trying to make a living with there 1903 WildWest Show.... they had did there time) when she was in search for Rooster later in her life ? And why didn't Matte "fool with marriage", was she bragging or complaining ? Maybe it was because she became a big time banker and had to spend her time cooking the books ..... instead of cooking in the home. Or maybe she didn't marry because Rooster(he may of drank too much but hey it is New Years) was her true love and the only person with the grit good enough for her ? And I thought the LBH battle was complicated with unanswered questions .

Governor Richardson of NM didn't grant Billy the Kid a pardon(announced this morning on Good Morning America...... were you holding your breath not like me) that suppposedly was promised years ago from former Governor Wallace(the author of Ben-Hur..... that's pretty cool). Talk about showmanship......Richardson makes Custer look like like an amatuer(which is no small feat).

And I thought the LBH battle was complicated with unanswered questions . I think the problem with Younger is that he did not stand in the presence of a "Lady." I agree, I didn't understand why Rooster had to shoot the horse. He was exhausted not lamed! A possibility of her not marrying is her status as the original Woman's libber. What man of that era was man enough to be her equal in a time when all men were so chauvinistic that none could have understood were Matte was coming from.

Possibly true, but Frank James never stood, and she said nothing to him. Rooster, just liked to shoot for any reason, bushwacking ,fun etc... Matte should consider herself lucky ,the horse not so. On another thought, just because she was a libber, doesn't mean she gets to murder Chaney(not Dick Cheney) without a trial. Maybe she didn't marry, because she didn't mean it and was covering up when she said, she had no time to "fool with marriage", because in her heart, she knew no man would want her in those days( she wasn't WOMEN ENOUGH) with only one arm to cook and wash etc.,so she hides behind her statement I had no time "to fool with marriage" ? I'm just saying it works both ways when it comes to male chauvinism and women feminism. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. You know, sorta ,kinda of etc.

Friend, Chaney was not quite a human being so she had the right to kill him like we have the right to kill a rabid cur. There was something about Matte that kind of turned me on. She was confident and smart. She would have made a darn good mate!

I was travelling through the states in 2000 stopped in Deadwood late July early August on a day of a parade(Lucked out).Calamity Jane was walking around snapping her bullwhip etc, took in Wild Bill Hickock play and went to Boothill etc, .Quite a little gambling town. When Deadwood appeared on tv a few years back I watched on or two but couldn't get into it, I dont know why, I should try again but I bought a Rome series and havent cracked it yet. So I'm not much help.
