CC, nobody compares Custer to Einstein, but the influence that may have good results at school upon success in life. It was a general exemple. Yet, you forget that I mentioned all the fields: scientists, artists, and soldiers: Pickett is not certainly more intelligent than Custer neither was Grant or Thomas Barry. All were succesfull and bad at school.

I know you weren't saying Custer has Einsteins brain. Bright or smart are important but character is more important. Look at the math whizards on wall street and how they messed up many peoples life in the past two years( pathetic). I'm just a person who is not a great fan of Custers smarts or character.Though I find his ambition intriguing.

I know that CC, but, in my opinion, you don't recognize as much positive points as even many of his enemies recognized he had.

While I may not agree with your perspective I respect you and your right to own such a viewpoint. As do we all! It is the variety in responses and feelings that make a forum interesting and fun to participant in. You, and everyone of us are critical if we are to achieve the high level of interaction necessary for meaningful dialog. Thank you for your efforts .

Other than Benteen, CC's dislike for Custer is like no one else. Nevertheless, I support your stance CC because you have toned down some of the harshness of past posts. In fact, maybe I need your view to help me see Custer in a more even light. I'm glad you are back.

CNN(Cinanmon) if I may call you that ,I'm quite aware of Custers foolish or brave exploits of the civil war, but as appalling of the loss of the third class passengers of the Titanic were,I'm also fascinated and stunned of brother against brother, father against son(Benteens),mother against... etc.etc. ad infintium of the Civil War. Couldn't the boys of flipped a coin, held a horse race, arm wrestled (fullfilled there Alpha maschosim and spared lives and property),the ladies hold an apple pie(nothing more American than that) bake off or beauty contest(we know who would of won the war then, AND KNOW I'M NOT A SEXIST PIG) or chosen up two ball teams to pick a winner. Just imagine all the fun the two sides could have had picking a winner of the Civil War. Think of all the money, property and lives that could of been saved . I think of the practical fool or brave joker Custer at the head of the cavalry charge screaming "Let's go you sonofab!t@#es Wolverines",ENJOYING the charge and THRILL of WAR, and of course again, I think of the loss of young lives on both sides that could of been spared. Sad. Do think if they could do it all over again they might try some of the ideas from above ? Okay you can stop laughing about the idea if they could do it over again WOULD THEY DO IT DIFFERENTLY.

You're doing really good too "Stumbling"(how is that coming anyways .. the stumbling that is ?). To help you, try this little advice, " just remember to be dexterous and deft and never mix up your right foot with your left" if this is possible for you and you'll even be better.

Seems to me there's always joker in the bunch, some good, some bad, and some not worth the mention.

I don't think your idea is something to laugh at. I wish it was true. Wouldn't it be nice if all the leaders who look for war had to fight the wars themselves? Betcha wars would be whole lot shorter, happen less often, and world leader not so happy to start them. As far as Custer whooping and hollering while leading charges that's just how how he did things. Hollering didn't make him wrong or right!

Not likely to happen. Have you ever noticed that Homicide-bombers are never enlisted from the "leaders" of terrorist groups?

Perhaps if Reno had read the memoirs of Colonel Ranald Mackenzie, 4th Cavalry. At the battle of Palo Duro, he drove two companies on a canyon floor and drove through the entire village which contained approximately 800 warriors.
They kept the warriors at bay until the arrival of support. This memo is dedicated to those who believe there was absolutely nothing else Reno could do other than run.
