Wallace was instrumental in painting an image of raw and green recruits entering and dieing at the Battle of the Little Big Horn while testifying at the R.C.O.I.
The following is a break down of service time for the members of each battalion:
Co. "A" 64% of the privates had 1-5 yrs. service, 13% had five or more years.
50% of the non-coms had 1-5 yrs. service, 50% had 5 or more years.
100% of commissioned officers had 5 or more years yrs. service
Co. "B" 41% of private had 1-5 yrs., 15% had 5 or more years of service.
44% of non-coms had 1-5 yrs., 56% had 5 or more years service.
100% of commission officers had 5 or more yrs. service.
