Yes.
But this stupid hill has been made too much of over the years. It was nothing, virtually nothing. No one went there, because no one had to.

Let me confess, I spent 40 minutes trying to bring up a site that addressed this issue. It was a yubetube deal with a gentleman waving a guidon from Weir point to Calhoun Hill. I never got it right so I threw out a hypothetical question. What i do not understand is this, Benteen always struck me as a nonsensical pragmatic type of guy. If the atmospheric conditions (dust/smoke) were not conducive to signaling Custer, why did he do it?

The youtube is www.youtube.com/user/treasuredude#p/u/10/6oEC2N63qasnot on the video, but caption underneath, "Experiment with guidon on Weir Point at Little Big Horn battlefield. Can it be seen from Calhoun Hill and Last Stand Hill? Answer... YES." Wish treasure dude took a vid from LSH.

The way I figure, if your seeing dust clouds, and with the aid of a glass, figures, then it's doable. Also kind of figure, things were getting pretty sporty by the time Weir got there for GAC to see anything. Dust and smoke works both ways.
