I think this is a good movie, and Gary Cole is a wonderful Custer. Even if sometimes, this movie falls on the "Always heard". But the thing I really don't like is: Rosanna Arquette. She is a wonderful actress, but, gosh, she has nothing, but nothing in common at all with Libbie. Only the colour of the hairs. Libbie's beauty is unreachable even for a twenty or twenty-one century girl, but I think they could have chosen someone better fitting for this role. e.g, Rachel Weisz or Kate Beckinsale. In the movie Libbie has a plaintive voice, and a weak mood. Libbie, instead was brilliant, happy, admired for her beauty and intelligence and brave. She had pride and a class that called for respect even for the more rough soldiers. This is something I don't really see in Rosanna Arquette charachter. Attachments:

It is a wonderful movie. I imagine it is very difficult to capture the essence of Libby, her beauty was only matched by the strength of her character and her complete dedication to her soul mate.
When the world chose to strip her beloved of his wonderful accomplishments in war and peace, she was steadfast in her defense of Autie's life and more importantly, his honorable death.

yes, of course, but look the eyes and the smile of Weisz, up above. It is 1000 times more Libbie than Arquette plaintive expression.

I like Weisz, she would have made a better Libbie for sure.
