My 20 year old (20 real years) Jindo dog Lucky passed away just a little while ago and I buried him under his igloo.
In his prime, he was the worst dog to chase after. Whenever he got loose I'd go up and down the entire town and see him laughing at me trying to get him. When we moved to a house next to a highway I made sure to attach him by two snaps, and when he learned how to work those (no matter what kind we got) I finally had the bright idea to attach him by the steel links and unscrew them every time he needed a walk, he was that crafty.
These last couple years had him stiff and off balance, but rather than dying like most animals do when they get that way, he was actually smart enough to walk himself back into a straightline by sheer determination to do so. He was just always finding ways to overcome his disabilities like the wobblyness and the near blindness and the bad coordination and he kept on going and going.
Finally now he stopped. And after so many years of walking and running and walking and running, and walking and walking and always walking, he's finally gonna have some much needed rest or end up running some place else.

Truly sorry about your loss.
As much as you gave to him, and knew it he did, nothing will ever take away from that. It wasn't just the water and the food, the daily needful things that he came to know you would be there for him to do, but those ever so small things that made him wag his tail or even bark when you didn't ever know.
