I have a new game for everyone. Write me a detailed physical description of a famous photographed person, without telling me who it is, and see how well I can match it with drawings.
Any one can write in with their person, I can take a person from everyone, BUT ONE AT A TIME FOR EACH PERSON.
PM the moderator with the identity if you wish, otherwise I'll just trust that no one will try to mess with me.
If all goes well, it'll be a great lesson in seeing how much a description can do for artistic intrepretation.
Describe mainly the face, but give me approximate heights and weights, ethnic guesses (right or wrong) also come in handy whether its their actual race or just a race that they resemble.
Anyone who's in, begin now!

What a unique idea Dr.Strange! :
I am tall and swarthy with jet black hair and piercing black eyes. My hair is parted on the left side. My hair is so thick and wavy that I imagine I could never go bald. I was born in 1836. My physical build, I would guess, could best be described as medium. While a mythologist would describe my persona as resembling the night, my good friend (whom I was often seen with) could be viewed as the day.

I agree Joe. Great idea. Here ya go....
My guy was known more for his blustery, unscrupulous, ornery, violent and belligerent nature which makes him a hair-trigger in any role he plays. All of this, in his cowboy flicks, fits him into a small-short framed body and 10+ sized gallon hat, under which was flaming red hair and an equally large mustache to match. They usually have put dark makeup shadowing that outline the outer sides of his eyes. And he's worn that in nearly every role he's portrayed.
He's played cowboy roles, for which he was noted, has played such roles as - a knight, a Roman legionary. a pirate, a prison guard, a Duke, a royal cook. a Confederate soldier, a hen-pecked househusband, a viking, a mountain climber and even a space alien.

I'll be back to these soon, remember to describe simply as much of what they look like as you can and don't give me any trivia details that might tip me off to who they are. In the meantime, check "Custer stuff.." for a neat new drawing!

Its difficult to do if you don't have some kind of working reference point for attempting it.

That was the impression I got from it also, ie. that you were supposed to guess at it. I would rather do this your way, as I'm sure Joe and others would also. Maybe if you would explain this so that we could understand it better. Thanks

Yeah, I know, very sorry. I was drawing Rosser and then I couldn't help but realize that he was exactly as Joe described here. Joe also leaked a few trivia details (again watch out for those!) that sorta revealed to me who it was. For what its worth, here's the drawing of a young Rosser which was what I was doing when it revealed to me who I think Joe chose as his mystery guy. Try to give strictly the physical description from now on so that I don't accidentally find out who it is! But if I do ever find out who someone is while I'm drawing the mystery guest or something else, I'll show the drawing and state who I think it is. Here's the drawing! Attachments:

I get you Strange, I gave a little too much detail! Next time I'll be a tad stinger. ;D Your rendition of Rosser is, as usual, a wonderful portrait!
