Please feel free to use this board to discuss any war, battle or conflict you want to. Also, sub-boards to this topic can be made to accommodate hot topic issues where members wouldn't be cross posting topics on the same board. For instance WWII could be a sub-board, and lets say the Crimean War another. Going to the appropriate board then would keep these different topics under one board conversations. LMK and enjoy
Look for the "Other wars, battles, conflicts here and around the world" category located just over halfway down the main intro page to start your discussions.

It's almost a pity that one of the more interesting topics available are the ones which deal with violence and "Man's Inhumanity to Man", never the less, war has always peaked the interest of the masses.
Apparently war will always be with us so perhaps it is best that we have some understanding of this social phenomenon.
The Alamo stands out (I believe) as a prime example of "heroics" perpetrated by legendary American pioneers who gave their lives to preserve truth, justice, and the American way of life;or is it?
There are some who would expound the opposite, insinuating that the majority , if not all, of the Alamo defenders were a group of greedy, land grabbing opportunists who were attempting purloin millions of acres from the Mexican people and government.
Even the great legends such as Crockett, Bowie, and Travis receive questionable innuendos regarding their purposes for participating in this battle.
Were they hero's or were they scoundrels?

I don't know the answer to that one. What I believe is that these men fought bravely before they died. To die for something you believe in makes you special I think.
