Several years back I was perousing a book with some photos in it of the battlefield. Some of them were quite old, and of course some new. What struck me was a certain terrain feature near Reno Hill that seems unexplainable except by modern reclamation processes.
To the north of Reno hill as it descends off in that direction, perhaps a hundred yards or so, there appears to be a flat bottomed terrace feature that seems man-made, as if it was meant to channel the runoff water and keep erosion to a minimum. What i'm interested in, is the history of that feature, as it appears in older photo's as well. Does anyone know - who would know whether or not that is a natural feature or a man-made reclamation terrace?
I inspected this "terrace" feature when I went there in 2005 from the road and the Reno Hill area, and it sure doesn't look "natural", but it was hard to tell from that distance.

Does anyone know the height of Weir's Point and that of Sharpshooter's Ridge. Liddic is claiming that the troopers went to the highest point in the area which, he claims is Sharpshooter Ridge. I would really appreciate some resources to obtain that info. if no one here knows. Thanks in advance.

Weir peak 3413 ft
Sharpshooter 3440 ft
Bouyer Peaks 3280 ft
Reno Hill 3400 ft
Valley floor about 3100 ft near Reno Hill (as it descends towards Custer Hill it drops about a hundred feet in elevation to 3000 ft.)
Highest points on Luce about 3360 ft
NYC 3420 ft
Calhoun 3280 ft
GGR 3280
Custer HIll about 3300 ft (at the time of the battle)
Some are more accurate than others. Weir Peak being one of them as it was stated that way on the USGS map. The rest were taken from the isolines off of the USGS map and could vary by several feet, but for the most part are within normal parameters for what you are looking for.
I think the clue here is "in that area". And that isn't a known.

I'm a little behind with this comment but, I need to ask a question. did Custer ride up Weir's Point or Sharpshooter Ridge when he looked at the village below him? I ask this question because I just read that he never went up Weir's Point.

Pardon my belated response, it depends upon who book you read. Liddic and Sklenar Sharpshooter's ridge. Gray (and others) opt for Weir's Point.
