Thanks to both you, Cutter and Caltexian for your comments on the article and your excellent followups.
Cutter, 'that's the patch! 4th armored div. on my father's sleeve. Thanks so much for that... Still can't explain why his parent outfit was listed in 30th ID, and he was in 4th AD, never bothered to question it at the time. The only thing I can think of his battery was detached to it...
And a special thanks to Caltexian for the "salute".

Its been so long ago, that one may have been on the other sleeve, IdK, but I do recognize that first one you posted, it was on his sleeve. I'm not the brightest bulb in the closet when it comes to these patch things, never claimed I was. But that one or at least one like it was there! I could have sworn it!!! Same colors and everything.

But honestly Cutter,
I’ll tell you what I really think and how I really feel. The patch(s) don’t matter none. What matters is what you said:
I have yet to see a combat vet who wanted to talk about any of it, gloat about any of it, or brag about any of it, or least of all, do what some of ‘those’ people do who merely say they are a vet or claim in service, and don’t have a clue that some of us know the truth.

This just came out today. Hmmm... I wonder how many people claim this status to make others think we should 'honor' them more online because of it?
This forum, our forum, is not bound to any cynicism or sarcasm, least of all mine. I am profoundly proud and am thankfully grateful to those service people and vets, each and every one of them, past and present. And if anyone here claims to be a vet or is serving in our armed forces, that same grace will be extended to them as well. We’re here to discuss the events and lives of people in a of period of history. We all are the sum of our experiences.

Sadly, I have had the "opportunity?" to hear from a few individuals who appear to foster an "image" by the use of military slang who may, in fact, have no experience at all. What a sad commentary if true.
